Blog: CCR Questions and Experience

Today I did the CCR questions. I enjoyed at looking at different perspectives about the product. It was good to look at how the product might challenge other conventions. Taking a reflection about the project as a whole was very enlightening.

Blog: The Commercial

We finally finished the commercial. It was really fun doing this with my friends. I'm excited for the next group project. My favorite part was filming the interview part. The only problem was that I could not stop laughing. That just signifies how much fun I had. I didn't enjoy editing because it was pretty boring. However, it was really fun overall. Hopefully the next project will be fun, or even better than this commercial. I loved the end result.

Blog: The Last Day

Today was the last day of editing, and there was much left to do. Since the file got corrupted, we had to start over again. Rashawn started editing with some clips and I wanted to help as well. Rashawn made me another file so that I could test out the editing software and try to edit some clips. Since I have never used an editing program on a computer, this was very new for me. It was also quite challenging. I added in the first few clips first. Those were the clips of the shoes and the stretching scenes. Second, I tried to adjust the music, but it wasn't really working out. I wanted to add a black screen when the second beat of the music dropped to add a dramatic effect. To do that I tried to look through the effects to find a black screen but I couldn't find one.. So instead I downloaded a black screen image off of Google and inserted it into the editing bar. I put the black screen and to try and get it on the second beat. After the black screen, I tried to add the scenes of Alex and Jorge lining up on the track field. I also added the scene of them starting to run. I realized that I forgot the eye level scene and I went back to add that.  I also tested out putting on a black and white filter on the screen. It didn't look so good, so I took it off. The group didn't end up keeping my file since I was experimenting. So, Rashawn started on a new file.

Blog: A Day Full of Crashes

So today it was time to start editing all the footage my group and I recorded. Rashawn told me that he had already started editing some of the new clips. I asked him to show my group and I the edits. So far, the footage was looking alright. I saw areas in the editing footage that could be changed so I started critiquing the work. Rashawn had added a black border to the footage and I didn't really like it being on ALL the footage. So I told him to take it off on some of the scenes. I kept asking him to change it and to replay it until it seemed good. Once the border issue was taken care of, I asked Rashawn to zoom in on Alex falling after losing the race. After that happened, the software crashed. Rashawn saw the footage was still there so I told him to start the editing program back up on his computer. Once it opened, my group and I got right back to work. I told Rashawn to speed up or to slow down some clips. Soon after that, the program crashed again. My group and I waiting for it to open again and saw that the only version of the edited footage that was there was before the change of faster/slower scenes. So, I asked Rashawn to edit it right back how it was before, with the parts I suggested to be sped up/slowed down. Inevitably, looking at the recent pattern, the editing program crashed again. This loop of edit-crash-edit-crash just kept on going for a long time. At this point, most of our edited footage was lost. Eventually, I decided to tell Rashawn to stop editing and download a different editing program on his computer.

Blog: Another Day of Filming

So today was another day of filming, but we also got some editing in. We went outside and got chairs on the shady part of the track. My group and I discussed whether we need to film more, and Rashawn said we do. Rashawn took out his computer and told us that he started making some edits with the good footage. I made critiques of the edited footage. Once, my group and I finished looking at the edited footage, we decided that it was time to start reshooting some scenes. We needed to change the first scene so that it appeared that Alex was in the lead of the race. I helped position Alex and Jorge on the track, with Alex in the lead. I took turns with Rashawn filming with his phone. I kept doing it over till we got the footage perfect. We also needed to redo the eye level shots. I told Alex and Jorge how they should look in the camera. I helped Rashawn angle his phone camera correctly to get the perfect video. Once we finished redoing the eye level shots, we needed to film one last part of the commercial. I took us to a sunny part of the track and my group and I discussed what we needed to do. We needed to have one last running scene in the track, with Jorge in the lead. I positioned Alex and Jorge on the track once again, this time the sunlight hitting us. Rashawn and I took turns filming the race until we got the perfect shot. Then, we watched over the footage and I suggested that we should spend next class editing. Since we finished, I packed up my things and went back inside.

The Final Task Film

I loved working on this project! Here is the final product below! It might not load up immediately.
