The Completed Music Video

We finally finished the music video. I had such a fun time working with my group. It was very interesting to experiment and work with different types of angles and shots. The editing, credited mostly to Rashawn, came out wonderfully. The long day of filming at the park with Rashawn and Constantine was worth it. My favorite project in this class so far has been this one. Usually I'd have a "favorite scene" that we filmed, but here that is not the case. I enjoyed the entire process. The scenes, the editing, the filming, and the music itself ties the whole project together nicely. Hopefully I can work with my group again.

Final Day of Editing

Today was the final day of editing. Rashawn and I ran into issues, yet again. Since Rashawn uses his own laptop, not the school's, connecting to the Wi-Fi is sometimes an issue. Rashawn and I tried to connect the laptop to three different Wi-Fi's, and it still wasn't working. When we finally got the laptop to connect to the Wi-Fi, we got started on editing. The first thing I did was watch all the progress we got from the previous days of editing. Rashawn and I noticed that there was a clip that was missing. The clip that was missing was the clip where Constantine and Rashawn were messing around with each other while I was in the corner. Rashawn told me that one of the flashback scenes was too long. So, I saw that Rashawn made it shorter so that we don't go over the time limit. I actually wanted it to be longer, so I told Rashawn that. He made the scene longer so I became happy because he did that. I noticed that the scene where Rashawn and Constantine are listening to music was missing. I asked Rashawn why and he told me that the clip didn't go through to his computer. I asked him to get Constantine to resend the clip because I really liked that scene. My favorite scenes so far are the flashback scenes. I think they flow really well with the music. Overall, the music video is looking really good. Rashawn told me that he will continue editing over the weekend. I told him that when he is finished he should send it to me so that I can help do the final critiques.

Editing Issues

Today was the second day of editing. However, Rashawn, Constantine, and I ran into an issue. Rashawn's computer ran out of space. That meant that we couldn't work on editing while in school and we had to wait till after each of us got home to help edit. Rashawn ended up sending Constantine and I a video of him editing. I watched the process and I gave a few suggestions. The first thing I noticed was that the brightness of the video was very bright because we were out in the sun. I told Rashawn to lower the brightness so we could see the music video better. The second thing I noticed was that Rashawn used the wrong clip for one of the scenes. For the scene where Rashawn and Constantine are playing around, I noticed that he used the clip where they are making faces instead of acting for the music video. I pointed this out to Rashawn and he switched the scene to the clip where they are actually acting. The next scene to edit is the flashback scene. I made sure that Rashawn chose the right flashback scene. I told Rashawn to add a vignette around the frame to show that it was an older point in time. A vignette is basically a black border in the shape of an oval. I also told Rashawn to add a black-and-white filter to the flashback scenes. After editing that scene, Rashawn decided to wrap it up. I looked over the final product of today's work. I made sure that everything looked good and ready. I think that the song "Stereo Hearts" that we chose fits the music video well. Today was a good, productive day in my opinion.

First Day of Editing

Yesterday Rashawn, Constantine, and I filmed all the shots. Now, it is time to edit. I made sure that Rashawn picked all the correct clips so that we can edit. The first scene is the texting scene. I told Rashawn to pick the texting scene where my phone does not reflect my face. I made sure that Rashawn will add all the clips to the editing software before he starts editing. I asked Rashawn to add all the texting clips separately, instead of all in the same scene. However, just like last time, we ran into a few issues. The editing app on Rashawn's PC crashed. So, I told Rashawn to use a different editing software. Once the editing software starting working, Rashawn and I started to work on editing again. There were many retakes of clips that we did, so I helped Rashawn chose the right ones. After a little while and after my critiquing, we finally got all three texting scenes in the right order. Then, I told Rashawn to make the clips shorter, so we don't have any unnecessary additions to the music video. The next scene we added is the scene where my group and I are meeting up. We had to trim this scene because most of it was us laughing and struggling to do a handshake. After a little more of editing, we re-watched the entire thing as a whole, and so far it was looking good. The next scene we added we laughed heartily at. That scene is the one where Rashawn made a disgusted face when I waved at him. So far, editing is going well. Rashawn and I wrapped up for the day and I am ready for the next day of editing.

Filming at Rashawn's

Rashawn, Constantine, and I all decided to film on Sunday. We went to the park that is near his house. We incorporated the storyboard into the filming quite well, I think. For the first scenes I told Rashawn and Constantine that we will all text on our phone to show that we arrived at the park. I helped film the shots of Rashawn and Constantine texting on their phone that they arrived with a close up on the phone screen. I put Rashawn's phone on a ledge at a long shot view to show us all meeting up. Then I told Constantine to film a scene of Rashawn and I. Rashawn seemed aggravated at me and I put on the act that I was sad because of that. For the next scene I told Rashawn and Constantine to talk and act happy while I acted sad and was left out, from a distance. Rashawn's sister did an over the shoulder shot of me watching Rashawn and Constantine laughing on the slide. I told Constantine to film a medium shot of a flashback scene of Rashawn and I swinging on the swings together. My group and I had to keep retaking shots because we all kept laughing. Overall, I tried my best to put on the front that I am sad. Also, I(my character) is mostly being left out in many of the scenes. I helped direct my group members around the park, telling them where to be for the filming. I also helped by suggesting how to film. Rashawn's sister filmed a high angle/long shot of all of us. That was the last scene. In that scene I acted very sad and walked away, leaving behind the park, as well as Rashawn and Constantine. For CLAMPS, in the flashback scenes, I put on my jacket so it would portray that I was at a different point of time. I really enjoyed filming these scenes. It was fun experimenting with different angles and shots.

The Final Task Film

I loved working on this project! Here is the final product below! It might not load up immediately.
